Becoming an Adult: Challenges for Those with Mental Health Conditions

What is unique about the transition to adulthood for transition age youth and young adults with mental health conditions?  Why do we need more research to develop successful age-appropriate interventions for this population?  Maryann Davis, an internationally recognized expert on services for transition age youth and young adults with serious mental health conditions and Director of the Transitions RTC, answers these questions and more in this two-part webinar.

This webinar was originally broadcast on May 25, 2010 as part of an overall introduction to the Transitions RTC.  It has been split into two 30-minute sections, but we encourage you to watch both sections.

Young Adult & Youth Involvement in Mental Health Services Research:  Making it Real

Jonathan Delman JD, MPH, PhD (cand.) is the Associate Director of Participatory Action Research for the Transitions RTC and founding Executive Director of Consumer Quality Initiatives, Inc. (CQI).  Mr. Delman presented an overview of community based participatory action research while also discussing the foundational principles of working with young adults with lived experience. The presentation is based on over ten years of experience in working with young adults as data collectors, analysts, and writers at both CQI and the Transitions RTC.  Young adult staff members of the Transitions RTC also provided input from their experiences working on a research project.
